The COMMAND.COM shell stores a copy of the COMSPEC variable internally. Because of this, if you change the COMSPEC after loading the Novell network shells, the system still wants to try to read the original COMSPEC that was set before the shell was loaded. But setting the COMSPEC variable before loading the shell can create problems as well. Especially when trying to boot from a diskless workstation.
With ShellZap, you can load the shell and change the COMSPEC later. All you have to do is set the new COMSPEC and then run ShellZap. ShellZap will set the internal COMSPEC to match the environment.
Example:
SET COMSPEC=F:\PUBLIC\DOSV6.20\COMMAND.COM SHELLZAP
